Amelia Burke

It was at University that Amelia discovered hot glass. She gained her degree in Three Dimensional Design BA (Hons) specialising in hot glass and has worked with it ever since. Amelia enjoys exploring the vast potential that the molten glass has to offer especially layering up coloured glass with its refractive and vivid qualities. Amelia's designs lie in the tessellating element of natural shapes such as butterfly wings and shell patterns.

Techniques: Hot glass, handmade pulled cane, hand chopped murrine, constructed and fused. This piece is currently in exhibition at The Natioal Gallery Kvadrat 500, in Sofia as part of the International Biennale for Glass, Bulgaria. From December, Phyllostachys Aurea will be available from the Contemporary Applied Arts Gallery.
